Romain Gavras makes amazing music videos for the likes of Simian Mobile Disco and Justice. They take the form of mini-documentaries or simply short glimpses into the everyday lives of groups of people unseen by the mainstream eye.
He plays with truly interesting, refreshing, insightful material, often stuff that is highly unorthodox for a music video. His heroes are clearly real people, asked to go about their daily routine with minimal direction from the artist. Yet, I feel, the tune and the video work really well together.
My favourite, which is not for those with a weak heart/soul, is the one he did for "Stress" by Justice. Check it:
